[University of Ulsan] Building an Integrated Hands-on Environment for AI Convergence Education

The University of Ulsan's AI Convergence major adopted an integrated AI development platform to provide an environment where many students can practice AI at the same time, and a remote AI development environment so learning can continue during lab construction.

A Hands-on and Operating Environment for AI Convergence Education

To develop talent that combines AI with regional industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, and energy, the University of Ulsan needed an AI lab environment that many students could use at the same time. It also needed to continue classes during lab and computer room construction, and required consulting on building infrastructure and hands-on methods for the new program.

Securing Concurrent Practice, Remote Learning, and Infrastructure Operations

The key challenge was to let many students practice AI independently at the same time, continue learning regardless of location, and establish an infrastructure management framework for the program's early operations.

  • Concurrent lab environment: An environment where 55 students can practice and develop AI at the same time

  • Remote lab environment: A remote development environment so learning can continue during lab and computer room construction

  • Infrastructure and operations consulting: Consulting on infrastructure management and hands-on training for the new program

Providing On-premises and Cloud AI Development Environments

Based on Cheetah, we provided both an on-premises AI lab environment and a cloud-based remote lab environment, and supported infrastructure buildout and operations through AI consulting.

  • On-premises lab environment: Supported building AI development lab infrastructure, including server room construction

  • Cloud lab environment: Provided a remote AI development and learning environment during construction

  • Multi-tenancy: Many students can practice at once in independent development environments

Continuity in AI Convergence Education and a Foundation for Hands-on Training

The University of Ulsan built the lab infrastructure and facilities needed to run its AI Convergence major in a short time, with a lab environment that requires no specialized knowledge to use. Even during construction, 55 students could access the remote learning environment anytime, anywhere, and continue practicing AI together.

  • Uninterrupted hands-on training: AI practice continued without interruption during construction

  • Concurrent learning environment: 55 students can practice at once in independent environments

  • Stable operating foundation: Infrastructure buildout and consulting established the program’s operating foundation
